Carolyn Wilkins: Music
Healin' Time
(Carolyn Wilkins)
Whenever you look at another man
Really see him
You may not care for him at all
But see a human being
Someone who has hopes dreams and fears
Just like you do
Don't demonize, don't victimize,
Dehumanize him
Lookin' in the eyes of a stranger
See your own eyes
Not your fantasies or fears
But see a human being
Someone who needs joy peace and love
Just like you do
Not some cardboard cut-out type
But real men in real life
Five hundred years of hatred
Bigotry and pain
The legacy of slavery still
Marks us with its shame
When will we call a halt to
Suffering and strife
When will we take a stand and
Fight for a better life!
We've got to have a
HEALIN' TIME
We've got to have a
Feelin' time
We've got to do some
Kneelin' time
Take it to the Lord in prayer
Let everybody
Clear their heart
If each of us will
Do his part
Then maybe we can
Make a start
Towards makin' this a brighter world
It's all up to us!
